SUMMARY:🚣🛶 Warm‑Water Winter Paddle at Lake Columbia
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a bucket‑list paddle on one of Wisconsin’s most unique winter waters. Lake Columbia is a 378‑acre warm‑water lake created as a cooling pond for Alliant Energy’s 1\,100‑megawatt plant. Water drawn from the Wisconsin River becomes superheated during the cooling process and is released into the lake — keeping it surprisingly warm year‑round. In winter\, temps near the plant can reach 70°\, and in summer they can exceed 100°.This warm water meeting cold air creates a surreal landscape: rolling fog\, frost‑covered trees\, ice‑crusted grasses\, and shimmering hoar frost on everything from fences to rocks. It’s a photographer’s dream and a great place to spot eagles. What to Expect:* Out‑and‑back paddle; choose your route based on conditions* Lake is ~1.75 miles long and under 0.5 miles wide* A narrow dike runs almost the full length of the lake* Ideal conditions: sunny\, calm dayWhat to Bring:* Kayak or paddleboard or canoe* PFD (required)* Dry bag\, warm layers\, and winter paddling gear* Camera or phone for photos* Water & snacks* Lunch on your own afterwardsPlease RSVP at shawanopaddlers@gmail.com\, thank you!Who’s Welcome:Anyone who wants a unique\, warm‑water winter paddle with great scenery and a relaxed pace.

SUMMARY:Wisconsin Open Enrollment Application Deadline
DESCRIPTION:The Public School Open Enrollment period is open!Fill out the form for alternative in-person public school options and also virtual and virtual hybrid partnership school options. \n\n\n\nFind the form and FAQ here: https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment \n\n\n\nWhat is Open Enrollment?\n\n\n\nThe inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside. \n\n\n\nWho can apply?\n\n\n\nAny Wisconsin resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a nonresident school district under the open enrollment program. However\, a child may transfer to a nonresident school district for early childhood education or 4K only if the child’s resident school district offers the same type of program and only if the child is eligible for that program in the resident school district. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere was a question a while back regarding open-enrollment. \n\n\n\nAccording to the WI DPI\, these are the only acceptable reasons a resident district can deny an open-enrollment request. \n\n\n\nPlease note that it does not say “too many students have applied to out-of-district schools”. It also doesn’t allow attendance records at the resident school to determine open-enrollment status to an out-of-district school. \n\n\n\nThis is just for Open Enrollment\, this does not include the School Voucher Programs. \n\n\n\nDeadline for Open Enrollment (public school) is April 30th \n\n\n\nDeadline for School Choice (private school) is April 17th. \n\n\n\nI also found out that there is a non-profit organization advocating for Virtual and Open-enrollment students. It’s called Parents for School Options. https://www.parentsforschooloptions.org/ \n\n\n\nOpen Enrollment: https://sms.dpi.wi.gov/OEParent/faqs.aspx \n\n\n\nInfo for the Wisconsin School Choice program can be found here: https://schoolchoicewi.org/school-choice-faqs/ \n\n\n\nVirtual School Options for Wisconsin Families

SUMMARY:🚜 Tractor Safety Class
DESCRIPTION:Prepares youth ages 12–16 to meet certification requirements under Wisconsin Act 455 to operate tractors and farm machinery for their own family on public roads. Students who successfully complete this course will receive State of Wisconsin certification and if 14 years of age or older\, Federal Certification. \n\n\n\nSpace is limited to 12 Participants \n\n\n\nRegistration Deadline is March 6th \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Class information can be found here along with additional class offerings \n\n\n\n\nChilton\n\n\n\nWautoma\n\n\n\nWaupaca\n\n\n\nAppeton – Service Motor Company Agriculture Center\n\n\n\nClintonville (seen in the flyer above)\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n**Publisher’s Personal Note** – My Son took this class when we first moved to the Clintonville Area 10 years ago at the advice of my aunt. I cannot recommend this class enough. It helped him with trailer backing\, awareness of surroundings\, and many other “life skills.”
