DESCRIPTION:The 41st Annual Shawano County Brunch on the Farm is on June 22\, 2025! Our host farm is Olson Dairy Farms Inc.The event will give community members the opportunity to see technologies at work on a modern dairy farm\, enjoy a delicious breakfast\, and have a morning of family fun. \n\n\n\nOlson Dairy Farms Inc. is owned and operated by Kurt Jr and Kyrsta Olson\, and their children Carter\, Luke\, Evan\, and Reid. His parents\, Kurt and Cindy Olson\, are the retired second generation of Olson Dairy Farms. They milk 600 cows and crop 1\,500 acres near Birnamwood\, Wis. In March 2020\, the Olsons transitioned from a parlor to a 10-robot milking facility to better balance their workload and family activities. Kurt Jr is the third generation and is proud to raise all their animals from birth to milking on the same farm site\, having two heifer barns and a calf barn with three robotic calf feeders. \n\n\n\nOlson Farms utilizes several technologies to provide excellent care for their animals and the environment. With robotic milkers\, each cow decides when and how often she is milked each day. The animals receive three different neck bands to help track their activity and health during each stage of life. Automatic feed pushers and scrapers ensure fresh feed is always available and the cow barn is clean. For cropping\, they utilize John Deere’s operational center. They also have a unique partnership with the DNR to fence in their feed pad\, keeping deer out. DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebration of June Dairy Month at Silver-Shea Holsteins in Omro! This is an excellent opportunity to come see first-hand the pride farmers take in the care of their land and livestock.  \n\n\n\nYou’re invited to visit the farm on Saturday\, June 21st for Grilled Cheese Day 2025! Come enjoy some delicious dairy treats\, explore the farm\, and learn about how we care for our cows and the land that supports them. Aside from our cows\, the farm is also home to pigs\, goats\, chickens\, sheep\, and of course the occasional barn cat.  \n\n\n\nSilver-Shea Farms welcomes a newborn calf approximately every other day\, so you may get a change to meet a brand-new calf.  \n\n\n\nThis event is free to attend. Parking will be at Omro Elementary School with shuttle buses to and from the farm. We will also be selling Grilled Cheese Meals for $5\, which includes a grilled cheese sandwich\, chips\, squeaky fresh cheese curds\, custard and milk or water. \n\n\n\nThe cheese for the sandwiches will be a specialty\, semi-soft cheese. curds in a cloud\, check it out on Union Star Cheese factory website!
