DESCRIPTION:The Brown County Sheriff’s Department/Howard Police and Howard Fire Rescue invite the community to visit with us from 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 4\, 2026\, at the Howard Commons Activity Complex\, located at 550 Commons Place in Howard\, to share some fun at National Night Out. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help keep our community a safe place to live. There will be many family-friendly activities and demonstrations throughout the night. Boy Scout Troop #1033 will be fundraising through food sales\, and there will also be ice cream and sweet treats for sale. The evening’s activities include: \n\n\n\n\n • Brown County Sheriff’s Department (BCSD) K9 Unit demonstration\n\n\n\n • BCSD SWAT Vehicle\n\n\n\n • Fire Safety House and inflatable Fire Prevention House\n\n\n\n • Fire Truck tours\n\n\n\n • Animal Control information\n\n\n\n • Dunk tank\n\n\n\n • Bounce House\n\n\n\n • Face Painting\n\n\n\n • Food Trucks\n\n\n\nFREE roller skating\n\n\n\nSWAT and EMS vehicles\n\n\n\nEagle III Medical Helicopter (weather and emergencies permitting)\n\n\n\n\n • Many other fun activities We hope to see you there! \n\n\n\nPlus\, help us fill The Giving Tree\, Howard-Suamico School District by bringing a non-perishable food item. It is a valuable opportunity for citizens and property owners throughout Waupaca County to voice their opinions on the 2026 proposed zoning ordinances/amendments prior to a Planning and Zoning Committee Advisory vote. If these proposed ordinances are approved as written or amended\, they will be forwarded to the full County Board for a vote at their August 18th meeting. \n\n\n\nA public hearing is a formal government proceeding designed to give citizens/property owners a meaningful opportunity to provide testimony and comment on actions that may be taken by the County Board Committee or the full County Board. \n\n\n\nIf you plan to attend\, please be respectful to the Planning and Zoning Committee Members\, the County Zoning staff\, other Citizens present\, as well as respectful for the process that was chosen and for any differing opinions expressed. \n\n\n\nWhy Your Voice Matters: Decisions being made the Waupaca County Board Committees or the full County Board were founded on the principle and promise of representative democracy. Jung Carriage Museum.   𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Wade House Stagecoach Inn was constructed conveniently between the cities of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan\, along a well-used stagecoach trail. This made the 27-room Greek Revival hotel a popular resting point for weary travelers. Three generations of the Wade family resided on the Wade House property\, with the stagecoach inn operating until around 1872. The Kohler family and the Kohler Foundation purchased Wade House in 1950 and began a top-to-bottom restoration. The site became property of the Wisconsin Historical Society and opened to the public in 1953. Here\, visitors can journey back to the horse-powered world that existed before planes\, cars\, and trains. The site features the stagecoach hotel built and owned by Sylvanus and Betsey Wade\, early settlers of Greenbush\, as well as a blacksmith shop\, sawmill\, and the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum\, which houses Wisconsin’s largest collection of carriages and wagons. Visitors can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides from the visitor center to the historic core and back again.
