DESCRIPTION:🥢 EVERY DAY IS A HOLIDAY! 🥢August 29 is National Chop Suey Day! \n\n\n\nApparently today’s calendar says we have an excellent excuse to answer the dreaded question… \n\n\n\n“What are we having for dinner?” 😂 \n\n\n\n🍜 A little Chop Suey history:Chop suey is generally considered a Chinese-American dish\, becoming wildly popular in the United States in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There are plenty of legends about exactly who invented it\, but its roots are tied to Chinese immigrants adapting their cooking to the ingredients and customers they found here. \n\n\n\nAnd the name? It comes from the Cantonese “tsap seui\,” roughly meaning “miscellaneous leftovers” or “mixed bits.” \n\n\n\nWhich means somebody basically turned “What do we have in the fridge?” into a famous dish. \n\n\n\nHonestly\, parents have been cooking chop suey without knowing it for YEARS. 😂 \n\n\n\n🥕 Make-Your-Own Chop Suey Night! \n\n\n\nThe beauty of chop suey is that you don’t need one perfect recipe. Start with: \n\n\n\n🥩 Chicken\, pork\, beef\, shrimp — or skip the meat🥦 Whatever vegetables need to be used up: celery\, onion\, carrots\, peppers\, mushrooms\, cabbage\, broccoli\, bean sprouts…🥣 A simple savory sauce🍚 Rice or noodles \n\n\n\nCook your protein\, toss in the vegetables\, add your sauce and serve it over rice. Board our replica Concord stagecoach as you meet horses\, take photos with them and learn more about the picturesque world of the horse-powered past during your 30-minute ride.  \n\n\n\nOur handsome stagecoach can comfortably accommodate six passengers per tour\, though it may be possible to include more if needed—contact Wade House staff if your group has more than six individuals. Want to experience the full breadth of our historic site? Jung Carriage Museum.   𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Wade House Stagecoach Inn was constructed conveniently between the cities of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan\, along a well-used stagecoach trail. This made the 27-room Greek Revival hotel a popular resting point for weary travelers. Three generations of the Wade family resided on the Wade House property\, with the stagecoach inn operating until around 1872. The Kohler family and the Kohler Foundation purchased Wade House in 1950 and began a top-to-bottom restoration. The site became property of the Wisconsin Historical Society and opened to the public in 1953. Here\, visitors can journey back to the horse-powered world that existed before planes\, cars\, and trains. The site features the stagecoach hotel built and owned by Sylvanus and Betsey Wade\, early settlers of Greenbush\, as well as a blacksmith shop\, sawmill\, and the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum\, which houses Wisconsin’s largest collection of carriages and wagons. Visitors can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides from the visitor center to the historic core and back again. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗚𝗼 \n\n\n\n\n Pre-registration is recommended\, though rides will be offered on the day of the event as space allows.\n\nCheck-in location is the Wade House Visitor Center and Wesley W. DESCRIPTION:🌀 EVERY DAY IS A HOLIDAY! 🌀Sunday\, August 30 is National Slinky Day! \n\n\n\nWell… yesterday we ate Chop Suey. \n\n\n\nToday we’re apparently throwing toys down the stairs. 😂 \n\n\n\nHappy National Slinky Day! \n\n\n\nAnd this is one of those toys with a GREAT accidental beginning. \n\n\n\n🌀 The Slinky wasn’t originally supposed to be a toy! \n\n\n\nBack in the 1940s\, naval engineer Richard James was working with tension springs when one fell and basically walked its way across a surface instead of simply falling over. \n\n\n\n💡 Wait a minute… \n\n\n\nHis wife\, Betty James\, helped turn that happy accident into the toy generations of kids have played with — and she came up with the name Slinky after searching for a word that described its smooth\, graceful movement. \n\n\n\nAnd more than 80 years later… \n\n\n\nWe’re still standing at the top of the stairs saying: \n\n\n\n“Okay… THIS time it’s going all the way down.” 😂 \n\n\n\n🌀 TODAY’S FAMILY CHALLENGE: \n\n\n\nDig through the toy boxes and see if you have a Slinky hiding somewhere! \n\n\n\n🏆 Who can get it down the most stairs?🏆 Who can make it “walk” the farthest?🏆 Can you transfer it from hand to hand?🏆 Can the kids invent a NEW Slinky trick? \n\n\n\nNo Slinky? \n\n\n\nMake your own Human Slinky Challenge! \n\n\n\nLine everybody up and crouch down. DESCRIPTION:It’s that time when families start planning on what they’re going to do for the summer! \n\n\n\nLet Kids Bowl Free help!  Each registered child (check each center for age requirements) gets to bowl 2 games free every single day!  (Check individual bowling alleys for shoe rental details) all summer long at NO Cost to Parents!  (But plan for the concessions…. my kids LOVE bowling alley food\, just sayin’) \n\n\n\nParents\, do you want to bowl with your kids? Then you’ll want to check out the Family Pass! This allows parents\, older siblings and babysitters to bowl alongside the registered kids. This is a one-time payment that allows up to 4 adults to bowl 2 games free all summer long\, with your Kids Bowl Free registered children. (You can add the family pass on at any time during the season.) \n\n\n\nHow it works: \n\n\n\n\nLocate a Kids Bowl Free participating location near you (this is the only one covered all summer)\n\n\n\nRegister – Create your Kids Bowl Free account and register your kids.  Decide if the Family Pass is right for your family.\n\n\n\nHave Fun – Make Memories – Go Screen-Free — Make New Friends–  Bowl 2 games free every day\, all summer long! \n\n\n\n\nThings to Note: \n\n\n\n\nEach bowling alley determines the times the program is active. Program begins April 30th! You can find the details here when you choose a location near you. Dates and Times will vary! (I’ve seen some start as early as April 30th and as late as June 1st and end between August 30-Sept 2) I’ve seen only 1 with hours available 7 days a week.\n\n\n\nCheck each location for age requirements. I’ve seen them range from 2-18 with some ending as early as 15.\n\n\n\nI found at least 8 participating centers within 60 minutes of Clintonville.\n\n\n\nThe Registration is not transferable between the different bowling centers.
