Join us on Sunday\, May 10th to celebrate with Mom: she’ll receive free admission to the NEW Zoo and to the Neil Anderson Canopy Tour all day long. While supplies last\, Mom can also choose a free plant from Wery’s Sweet Summer Bloomers and receive a complimentary bag of candy on arrival.In addition to all the every-day fun the NEW Zoo has to offer\, guests can enjoy “extra” fun activities provided by this year’s sponsors\, too. AHT Wisconsin Windows and Everydry Waterproofing will be on-site with activities\, The Dog House will be serving up their famously fresh cheese curds\, burgers\, and brats\, Nothing Bundt Cakes will be offering a variety of tasty\, sweet treats\, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck will be pouring out a thirst-quenching selection of both hot and cold beverages. That means Mom won’t have to cook\, so don’t be afraid to come hungry! The Giraffe Feeding Experience and the Children’s Zoo Feeding Experience will be available throughout the day\, as well\, along with the Endangered Species Carousel (weather permitting).To facilitate an easier and faster entry\, we encourage everyone to purchase admission tickets in advance for all members of your party (EXCEPT for moms and kids under 3!). You can arrive any time after we open at 9:00 a.m. and stay at the Zoo for as long as you like (until closing time!). Tickets are available now at newzoo.org. Zoo Pass Members can arrive anytime during the day and follow your usual entrance procedure. Canopy Tour tickets can be purchased at the Adventure Park Base Camp Building or online in advance (for everyone in your group except for moms and children under 3). DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Appleton Memorial Day Parade and “Moment of Remembrance” Ceremony will be on Monday\, May 25\, 2026. At 8:58 AM\, from the corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street in downtown Appleton\, the Appleton City Band will play the National Anthem. At 9:00 AM\, a joint veteran service organization rifle squad will fire one blank round to start the Parade. The Parade heads east on College Ave.\, turns north on Meade St.\, east on Pacific St. and disbands on Owaissa Street in front of the historic Riverside Cemetery. The Fox Valley Veterans Council\, Fast Signs\, and Great Northern Corporation will partner again to create a special tribute for Memorial Day.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Fox Valley Veterans Council has long maintained a list of Outagamie County servicemen and women who perished while serving in the United States military from the Civil War to the present. In 2022\, Fast Signs designed and produced large banners to display these names for the parade. Great Northern Corporation will drive the banners through the Appleton Memorial Day Parade on a semi-truck\, which will ultimately park outside the entrance of Riverside Cemetery. Parade spectators are encouraged to read the names of the fallen servicemen and women\, remember their sacrifice\, and reflect upon their service. Immediately following the end of the parade\, the City of Appleton’s “Moment of Remembrance” Ceremony will commence inside the historic Riverside Cemetery (714 N. Owaissa St. in Appleton) at the George D. Eggleston\, G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) plot to honor the military servicemen and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.  \n\n\n\nThe program will feature poignant speeches and poems delivered by Appleton High School students; remarks from Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford\, Chaplain Bob Johnson of Appleton American Legion Post No. 38\, and our master of ceremonies; and patriotic music\, including live performances from the MacDowell Male Chorus and the Appleton City Band. Color and honor guards from various local veteran service organizations will also participate. The ceremony will end traditionally: a rifle salute to our fallen servicemen and women will be performed by members of Appleton American Legion Post No. 38 and Appleton VFW Post 2778. A bugler from the Appleton City Band will play “Taps” to close the “Moment of Remembrance”.  \n\n\n\nA short\, second ceremony will take place after the City’s ceremony\, at the Appleton American Legion Post 38 plot. This plot is located at the entrance of the St. Joseph Cemetery within Riverside Cemetery.
