Fall is definitely in the air around here. Pumpkins, Apples, Mums and Decor are appearing. Some more of the fall theme with cornstalks and hay bales and some of the Halloween themes. Do you have a favorite?
Our event calendar is definitely taking on a more “Fall Theme” too. We’re starting to get the Trick or Treat times on our calendar. Now, we handle trick-or-treat times on our calendar a little differently. And with the new map option that our calendar has, it should make trick-or-treating a whole lot easier. But, we will need a little help. If you know of a nursing home or assisted living facility that is getting ready – we want to know. One of those houses that goes all out – let us know. How about those businesses and organizations that specifically want the trick-or-treaters? We even include the same-day trunk-or-treats — but you guys gotta tell us because we can’t be everywhere and see everything.
We’re making a few changes behind the scenes, particularly in event-entry for the calendar. It ultimately comes down to the math not mathing. We have an amazing tool to make it easy for event organizers to tell us about their events. It will also save them time and money – no flyer reprints or having to Sharpie 500 flyers to fix a misprint or missing info. Events that qualify for complimentary submission to our calendar haven’t changed – just the way to get the events on there has.
We are very excited about the reception that the Local Farm Stand has gotten in the few short weeks that it’s been live. We obviously have more farms and categories we’d love to add. We have a simple form for the farms to submit to get added. We want to take this opportunity to remind you that each page of the website can be added to your phone so it behaves like an app, but without installs, updates (at the most inopportune time) and subscriptions. We do have a subscription available– but it is completely optional and incredibly appreciated!
We are getting ready for the Holiday Season. We’re working on rebuilding the Business Directory and Restaurant Guides! Hopefully these will help create the BRAND NEW Local Holiday Gift Guide! The current forms will work if you want to sign up early – and save money!

Sneak Peek – Behind-the-Scenes
Carbon Monoxide Safety – almost a year ago – I had read that a lot of the green-light carbon monoxide alarms aren’t set to go off at a low enough number. Check the alarm – you want one that goes off well below 50ppm. Ideally, get one that shows you the numbers a lot sooner than that. In EMS, they teach us to not rely on our monitors. Look at signs and symptoms; the monitor just gives us another clue. If you’re not feeling well and your monitor is over 0, call and get help. Don’t wait for the alarm to sound. The 2 monitors I bought last year aren’t available anymore, but I found 2 more that will work and are in the same price range. Check out my Family and Safety Page in my Store on Amazon – I may earn a commission on qualifying purchases. I’m personally not a fan of the plug-in-only ones because I like to occasionally bring them with me in the car or other outings where air quality might be a concern.
Every Day is a Holiday – we started this series back in August – if you need an idea and the calendar doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for – take a look at past holidays. There just might be the perfect activity for today.
Plan Ahead
These are the events that require some sort of planning ahead. Some have hard RSVP deadlines and some just require us to not just show up as we are.
Keep checking back — we’re always adding more events and making improvements to the site. All of these links will work as we update, so you’ll always have the most current!
