Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 664 Continues to Serve the Community

The Clintonville VFW Post 664 has been very active over the last year and especially the last seven months supporting Clintonville non-profit organizations, donating monetary funds to several agencies/schools, hosting a social dance for the community, passing out tissue boxes to assisted living home residents, raising funds to support the completion of the Clintonville Veterans Memorial, performing military honor guard funerals, presenting VFW awards to school teachers and students, and teaching US Flag etiquette classes to two groups of 40 first graders at the Clintonville Elementary School in Clintonville, WI.

The Clintonville School District AODA Prevention Program received a $200 donation check in October 2023 to support their unique programs.  In November 2023, Goodfellows of Clintonville and Marion received a $287 donation check and the Clintonville Food Pantry received over 200 items from Post 664. Also, in November 2023, the Post 664 held their annual Deer Hunter’s Ball, a casual social event and dance for the community.

Next, in December 2023, Post 664 donated tissue boxes for each resident at four (4) Clintonville Assisted Living facilities.  Over the last seven months, Post 664 performed over 16 military honor guard funerals in Clintonville and the surrounding towns. 

In January 2024, the VFW District 7 Commander presented to Post 664 awardees 1st place for VFW District 7 Teacher of the Year and 1st place for VFW District 7, Voice of Democracy.  Also, in February 2024, a Post 664-member, John Fandrey was awarded the 2023-2024 State of WI District 7, Bob Munro Service Award for his excellent service to the VFW organization and community over the last  58 years.  In March 2024, Post 664 presented awards to the 2023 Post 664 1st and 2nd place Teachers of the Year, the 2023 Post 664 one Voice of Democracy winner and to the four Post 2023 Patriot Pen winners.

 Recently, Post 664 taught 80 Clintonville elementary school first grade students and six teachers the importance of US Flag etiquette, the rules of flying and displaying the US Flag and explained our military service and answered questions. The Post 664 presented the elementary teachers with VFW Certificates of Appreciation signed by the Post 664 Commander and Post 664 Quartermaster. 

The VFW Post 664 is getting ready for a busy Spring and Summer with:

  • Placement of US Flags on Graceland Cemetery Veterans graves on May 13th (5 pm)
  • Clintonville Spring Car Show (May 17th)
  • US Flag Retirement Ceremony on May 26th (11 am)
  • Memorial Day Parade (9:30 am)
  • Memorial Day Ceremony at Graceland Cemetery (11 am) and a free cook-out at Post 664 for all Veterans and their families (12 Noon to 4 pm).

In June 2024, several members of Post 664 will attend the 2024 VFW WI State Convention (June 12th-15th) in Green Bay, WI and the Post 664 will pick-up the US Flags on Graceland Cemetery Veterans graves on June 17th  (5 pm).
