We figured out what’s for dinner again. 😂

Today is National Pepperoni Pizza Day! 🍕❤️

And since it’s Sunday, we’re going to consider ordering pizza an officially recognized holiday activity.

🍕 BUT WAIT…IS PEPPERONI ACTUALLY ITALIAN?

Here’s a fun one:

The pepperoni we pile onto American pizzas is largely an Italian-American creation, rather than a traditional Italian pizza topping brought straight from Italy.

Even the word can cause a little confusion.

In Italian, “peperoni” refers to peppers — while the spicy cured meat Americans call pepperoni developed here in the United States.

So if you travel to Italy and ask for peperoni on your pizza…

You might not get what you were expecting. 😂🌶️

🍕 WHY DOES PEPPERONI CURL UP?

Ever notice how some pepperoni turns into those crispy little cups when it cooks?

As the pepperoni heats, the casing and meat can shrink differently, causing the edges to curl upward.

Which creates a tiny little cup…

FOR GREASE.

Nature is beautiful. 😂

👩‍🍳 TODAY’S FAMILY CHALLENGE: MAKE YOUR OWN PIZZA!

You don’t even need pizza dough.

Try:

🫓 Naan or flatbread
🥯 Bagels
🥖 French bread
🌮 Tortillas
🍞 English muffins

Add sauce, cheese and pepperoni, then let everybody customize their own.

And if the kids create a combination that sounds absolutely horrifying?

Today we’re encouraging creativity.

You don’t have to eat theirs. 😂
