Wednesday, September 2 is Blueberry Popsicle Day!

Apparently September has decided we’re not finished with summer yet.

We support this decision. 😂

Today is Blueberry Popsicle Day, which gives us a perfectly reasonable excuse to enjoy one more cold, drippy, sticky summer treat.

And YES…

This definitely belongs on the list of foods where Mom says:

“You’re eating that OUTSIDE.” 😂

🫐 BUT FIRST — DID YOU KNOW?

Blueberries are one of the few fruits native to North America, and Indigenous peoples were gathering and using wild blueberries long before they became the supermarket staple we know today.

And those little berries are pretty impressive!

🫐 Their blue-purple color comes from natural plant pigments called anthocyanins.

🫐 Blueberries can be eaten fresh, frozen, baked, blended…and, apparently, turned into a holiday-worthy popsicle.

Which brings us to today’s activity…

🧊 MAKE YOUR OWN BLUEBERRY POPSICLES!

You really don’t need anything fancy:

🫐 Blueberries
🥛 Yogurt OR your favorite juice/lemonade
🍯 A little honey or maple syrup if you want them sweeter

Blend it together, pour it into popsicle molds and freeze!

No popsicle molds?

Paper cups + popsicle sticks work just fine.

And if we’re being completely realistic…

You can also buy blueberry popsicles and declare the holiday successfully celebrated. We don’t judge around here. 😂
