🍮 EVERY DAY IS A HOLIDAY! 🍮
September 19 is Butterscotch Pudding Day!
Today’s holiday tastes a little like something Grandma would’ve made. ❤️
It’s Butterscotch Pudding Day!
But first…
🤔 WHAT EXACTLY IS BUTTERSCOTCH?
Despite the name, we’re not pouring Scotch whisky into the kids’ pudding. 😂
Traditional butterscotch is made primarily with brown sugar and butter, giving it that rich, caramel-like flavor.
🍬 BUTTERSCOTCH VS. CARAMEL
They’re cousins — but they’re not exactly the same!
Caramel is traditionally made by heating white granulated sugar, while butterscotch gets its distinctive flavor from brown sugar and butter.
And today we’re turning that goodness into pudding.
👩🍳 EASY HOMEMADE BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING
You probably already have most of this in the kitchen!
🥛 2 cups milk
🤎 ½ cup packed brown sugar
🌽 3 tablespoons cornstarch
🧂 Pinch of salt
🥚 2 egg yolks
🧈 2 tablespoons butter
🥄 1 teaspoon vanilla
HERE WE GO!
In a saucepan, whisk together the brown sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Slowly whisk in the milk and egg yolks.
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and begins to gently bubble.
Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.
Pour into little bowls and serve warm — OR refrigerate until cold.
Add whipped cream if you’re feeling fancy.
Congratulations. You made pudding from SCRATCH. 🎉

🍌 Sliced bananas
🍎 Chopped apples
🥨 Crushed pretzels
🍪 Crumbled cookies or graham crackers
🍫 Chocolate chips
🥜 Chopped nuts
☁️ Whipped cream
Then everybody builds their own Butterscotch Pudding Creation.
Bonus points for giving it a ridiculous restaurant-menu name.
