Saturday, September 5 is International Day of Charity!

Today’s holiday is a little less silly…

but it might be one of the most important ones on our calendar. ❤️

September 5 is International Day of Charity, a day established by the United Nations to recognize the role charity plays in helping people and communities around the world.

And the date has a special meaning.

September 5 was chosen because it marks the anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa, who spent much of her life working with people experiencing poverty and hardship.

🌎 But here’s something we really want to remember today:

You don’t have to change the whole world to make a difference in someone’s world.

And charity doesn’t always require money.

❤️ Donate food to a local pantry.
❤️ Give clothes or household items to an organization that needs them.
❤️ Volunteer an hour.
❤️ Donate blood.
❤️ Help an elderly neighbor with something around the house.
❤️ Share a local nonprofit’s fundraiser or wish list.
❤️ Buy an extra school supply, hygiene product or pantry item to donate.
❤️ Support a benefit for a local family going through a difficult time.

Sometimes it’s even simpler.

Hold the door.

Check on someone.

Share someone’s post.

Offer your skills.

Give your time.

See a need and help where you can.
