No school.
Maybe no work.
One last summer cookout.

Why DO we celebrate Labor Day? 🤔

🇺🇸 A LITTLE LABOR DAY HISTORY

Labor Day grew out of the American labor movement during the late 1800s, when many workers faced extremely long hours, low wages and dangerous working conditions.

On September 5, 1882, thousands of workers participated in what is widely recognized as the first Labor Day parade in New York City.

They marched to bring attention to workers and their contributions.

More states began recognizing Labor Day in the years that followed, and in 1894, Labor Day became a federal holiday.

So while today might mean burgers, camping, family time and one more summer adventure…

❤️ Labor Day is really a celebration of America’s workers.

The farmers who grow our food. 🌾

The people who build our roads and homes. 🔨

The nurses, caregivers and first responders working today. 🚑

The teachers and school staff starting another year. 🍎

The truck drivers keeping things moving. 🚛

The restaurant and retail employees serving everyone enjoying their day off.

The factory workers, mechanics, tradespeople, office workers, small-business owners and countless others whose work keeps our communities running.
