Grab a putter.

Choose your brightly colored golf ball.

And prepare to spend the next 20 minutes trying to get past a tiny windmill. 😂

Today is Miniature Golf Day!

⛳ A LITTLE MINI-GOLF HISTORY

Putting courses have been around for well over a century, but miniature golf REALLY took off in the United States during the early 1900s.

By the 1920s and ’30s, mini-golf courses were popping up all over — eventually evolving into the wonderfully ridiculous courses we know today.

🐊 Fake alligators.

🌋 Volcanoes.

🏰 Castles.

🌉 Tiny bridges.

💦 Waterfalls.

And, of course…

THE WINDMILL.

Because apparently regular golf wasn’t frustrating enough. 😂

⛳ WHY WE LOVE MINI GOLF FOR FAMILY FUN

You don’t have to know how to golf.

You don’t need expensive equipment.

Little kids can play.

Grandparents can play.

Teenagers can play.

And there’s usually at least ONE family member who suddenly becomes extremely concerned about enforcing the official rules.

You know who you are. 😂

🏆 TODAY’S FAMILY CHALLENGE:

Find a miniature golf course and play a round!

But we’re adding some RuralNEWfamilies rules:

⛳ Hole-in-one = everybody celebrates obnoxiously.

😂 Ball leaves the course = automatic bonus point for creativity.

🌳 Ball ends up somewhere nobody can retrieve it = we don’t talk about that hole anymore.

🏆 Winner gets bragging rights.

🍦 Loser suggests stopping for ice cream afterward.

Actually…

Everybody should probably get ice cream.
