Welcome to June! This is one of my favorite months. It’s June Dairy Month. We have the Breakfast on the Farms on the calendar already. It’s also FREE Fishing Weekend! Check the calendar often, we probably have more to enter.
Many of you know that I am a huge advocate of first-aid-related classes. There is a CPR refresher class on June 4th. If you are interested in it, you’ll need to call FVTC directly as they took it off the website. There are several other classes being held this summer. We are hosting an epi-class this summer as well. This class allows Good Samaritans to recognize an anaphylactic reaction, carry and administer epinephrine auto-injectors to anyone in need. Even better: the class is 100% FREE and only an hour of your time. If you don’t feel you need the class, we hope you will take the time to read about these 3 current bills that need all our support.
Manawa and Clintonville Ambulance will both be at their City-Wide Rummage sales selling Walking Tacos! Manawa will be in front of the Manawa Fire Station and Clintonville will be in front of Marion City Hall.

Save the Date! We’re also hosting a Food Truck Festival! We still want people to go to our local restaurants, in particular the restaurants that are participating in our Restaurant Guide. But we’re bringing in some new options as well. We are really excited about the options that are coming for our very first one. If it goes well, we hope to bring it back more often, and maybe with even more trucks! We also hope that you’ll stop in and look around the businesses inside the Fire and Iron Gathering building. Many of the businesses will be open later for your convenience. We hope our brand new banner gets done soon! We’re excited to see how it turns out!
We love the new Plan-Ahead category in our calendar. You can see which events require advance registrations so you never miss an event or registration deadline!
Summer is a busy time with both work, and play. If you’re hosting an event, the fastest and easiest way to get it on the event calendar is to submit it directly. All submissions take priority over the rest of my to-do list. Don’t worry. I proofread for spelling errors and will make it look good before it goes live on the website.

One last thing, we’re working hard on building up our business directory. I don’t know how many times I collected a business card and ended up misplacing it just before I end up needing it. Same goes with saved posts from FB. I’ll save a FB card or post and then when I need it, can’t find it. The business directory will solve that. Always organized, always available.
We are still fundraising to help our sister-in-law with cancer costs. We also have socks available at The Robbins Nest inside Fire & Iron. We have 2 pairs of Father’s Day Socks… just sayin’. We will be back at Parking Lot Dayz on June 26th. We will have a new food truck with us that day. Come check us out and the rest of the incredible vendors.
Make it a great weekend! Happy June! Bookmark the calendar and our Facebook page and check back often. Lots of exciting things are happening!
