Mother’s Day

This is an event my kids look forward to every year. The staff at Sawmill Surplus are amazingly patient with all the kids, and my daughters love having the opportunity to work with power tools. I love the flower boxes. I have 4 of them now (they have offered 2 options each year and this is their third year) and we already have our reservations set for 2 more. My kids love helping find plants to go into the flower boxes the next year. It really is the gift that keeps on giving.

We will add other Mother’s Day events to the calendar so your family can pick the adventure that’s right for you.

We are looking for Mother’s Day Brunches. As we find them, we will add them to our Restaurant Guide.

I made a post on my personal page that I feel should probably be shared here as well. I run 2 business pages and 5 groups. I don’t share in other groups very often anymore because when I do, FB flags me as spam, and then I can’t comment on anything. It’s not fun begging admins to track down and approve posts and comments. So, the best way to make sure you always see the information: sign-up for our FREE newsletter, and follow and interact with our posts on the business page (listed below). Even a simple “like” when you see a post will make sure you keep seeing them.

A while back, I was given some feedback on my graphics. I appreciated the constructive criticism and have stopped using AI to create my graphics. You may still see some of the old ones because I do reuse images. And I have been using old images in new ones that I create- there are a few hybrid graphics that combine multiple elements.

For those who are new to us: I cover a very large area looking for family-friendly events. I focus mostly on rural communities in a 90-minute radius from Bear Creek Wisconsin. What does family-friendly mean? Pretty much whatever defines a family. We know that families come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and demographics, so we try to include them all. To quote Jeff Dunham, “Is this family-friendly?” “It depends on your family.” Not everything will be kid-friendly. Parents still need things to do even after their kids are grown with families of their own. And some people still need to find their “family”. Some people need kid-free activities. every once in a while. We strive to make sure no one says “there’s nothing to do”. Almost all of our events cost $20 or less for the average family. There are a couple of exceptions.

Because we cover such a HUGE area and a large variety of events, we put each event in categories that can be filtered.

I’ll put the most frequently requested filters here:

Shawano Area Only Events
Clintonville Area Only Events
Antigo Area Only Events
New London Area Only Events
Library/Museum Events
Nature Center
Fundraisers
Mothers Day
Holidays
Earth Day
Storytime
Senior Only Activities
Teen Only Events
Rummage Sales
Sturgeon
AA/NA Meetings
RSVP Only

Some categories aren’t used as much right now like Music, Arts, Tours and Farmers Markets, (the last winter one is this weekend) but those should start getting busier soon.

There is a discussion regarding a popular New London-based May Event.

If there’s a category you’d like me to add, please let me know. Are you hosting an event that fits in one of the above that’s missing? It’s FREE to have it included. Click HERE for the form.

We know that a lot of people have been interested in our business directory and we know it’s not very helpful right now, so we are running a Cabin Fever Reliever Sale to hopefully fill up 3 of the areas people are looking for most:

ICYMI

Teen Drivers, Emergency Alerts, Birthday Club, Free Legal Assistance

Fundraising Sale

This is not an affiliate deal. This is a fundraiser we set up. Our plan is that every time we receive a distribution check, we will split the money 50/50 with an organization that needs it. The decision will be made with each check distribution. Watch our social media channels as there may be a vote. If you have an organization in mind at the time of purchase, shoot us an e-mail or message our FB page so we can make a note of it. (Obviously, people who make a purchase will have a bigger say in where the donations go than those who don’t.)

–Where Local Finds Families and Families Find Local–

We find events in approximately a 90-minute radius of the Outagamie/Waupaca County border. We are supported by advertisers, sponsors, reader contributions, and affiliate partners.

We reached this milestone this week! I want to say Thank You to each of you! We can’t do it without you!
