Summer Wrap-Up

It’s hard to believe summer is winding down already. It feels like just last week that I wrote about finding the local swimming holes and other summer fun.

Summer isn’t quite done yet. We still have a lot of summer fun on the calendar! We don’t want to miss the County Fairs, Summer Concerts, and Community Festivals!

How are all of you doing with getting ready for back-to-school? If you need help with keeping certain items throughout the school year, one of our fundraisers is through Mabel’s Labels. You’d be supporting 2 small businesses and a non-profit with your purchases while saving money by NOT losing hats, mittens, water bottles, jackets, backpacks, etc. If you don’t have kids in school, they have other fun items as well, including *gasp* ideas for Christmas gifts!! Summer is winding down, that means Halloween is next week, Thanksgiving is the following week and Christmas is in under a month. Somewhere in there is Homecoming and Deer Hunting.

Our renewal for our calendar software is here, so we’d love a little feedback from those of you who use it.

The Survey can also be accessed here:

We want to thank you in advance for your help in making this a better resource.

Let’s move on to the Family Fun, shall we?

These are just a few of my Top Picks, we are always adding new events! The full calendar can be found here.

Farmers Markets still have several weeks to go, but some of your favorite vendors may start winding down.

We have a few categories that make it easier to find events:

Libraries/Museums – you can use this to see all the events happening at all the local libraries and museums

Nature Center

Live Music

RSVP Suggested/Required – these are the events that either suggest or require an RSVP or have other sign-up deadlines.

🇺🇸 We also have a special category for veterans and their families.

Restaurant Guide – this guide is both a labor of love and my lifeline. I recently hosted another Do It For Dillon Anaphylaxis Class and while there, learned of 2 more young men who died from a snack. As I was reading his story, it sounded so much like my own daughter. A very picky eater, very limited options, not easy going out to eat because of her limited choices of what she’ll eat. After reading his story, I am glad I created the guide and don’t do what my grandma did when we didn’t like something. I created the Original Restaurant Guide in 2000. Since then, we made a few changes. One of the first changes we made was making it an opt-in only guide. Over the past 3 years, I’ve had so much input from people of all walks of life in the development of the guide. While it’s still pretty small, we’re still very proud of it.

We recently became a Fox Cities Chamber member and are very excited for the opportunities that membership will provide for our readers, customers, and clients!

For any event hosts that are reading this, it’s always free to have your event listed on our website. We do have some additional promotional options available if you’d like your event to stand out a little more. The Submission Form can be found HERE. When you submit your event using our form, it ensures we have all the details and nothing is forgotten. It also moves your event to the top of my data-entry to-do list.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Keep checking the calendar, we’ll keep adding more events!

For those end-of-the-summer play dates, we have “Business Cards” to help kids keep in touch.

We can’t let you go without a fall drink recipe.

If you have suggestions as to how we can improve, we are always listening.

Since we’re not always on social media, this is a fast, easy way to make sure you can always find us!

Here are a few ICYMI posts from our FB page:

To help you stay in touch.

We also have 3 FB groups:

  • Rural NEW Families Events – A few businesses post their events in this group. If you have questions, it’s a great place to contact the hosts. Get the info straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
  • Clintonville Area Let’s Talk About It – this is just a place to chat or ask questions.
  • Rural NEW Families Alternative School Outings – Many families are choosing alternative education for their children. It can be tough for the kids to make new friends or to take advantage of the other educational opportunities available. Virtual Public School students fall into this weird middle ground. A lot of “homeschool” groups don’t allow virtual students. This group is for everyone.

When we started finding family-friendly activities 8 years ago, we stayed far away from politics. Politics are not family-friendly or fun, but they do affect every one of us. I have a category for those town and school board meetings. I’m not on every list to get every meeting for every community, so if there’s a meeting that people need to know about, send me the info.

Community Meetings

We are a small family-owned and operated business located near the Waupaca/Outagamie County line. We serve families and businesses in rural communities located within an approximate 90-minute radius of Clintonville, WI. We are supported by sponsors, advertisers, affiliate purchases and donations.

We hope you have a wonderful week! Check the website often! And hopefully we’ll see you out and about “in the wild”!

🎗️ Don’t forget, each event on our calendar can be saved to your own calendar for easy reminders. Each event is also easy to share on and off Facebook! Friends Don’t Let Friends Miss An Event!

Any questions or issues with any of the forms or the website, you can always reach us on our FB Pagee-mail, or our Contact Us page – please include a message.
